K – 4th graders - Mimi Johnson has been nurturing and teaching our
children for years. They meet every Sunday
but communion Sundays. Your child will
not want to miss being with "Miss Mimi" There is a three-year
rotation of learning in children's church.
This year the group will learn about the Shorter Catechism. There will be some memorization, but more time
will be spent on trying to understand and be familiar with some of our church
doctrines. The Ten Commandments will
be learned thoroughly. (If you have
children who have done this, just ask them to tell you!!) The last part of the year will be reading
and talking about Pilgrim's Progress (The Dangerous Journey). The second year in
the rotation will be all about Worship.
The children will learn how to worship and how to praise God. Much of their time will be spent learning
and singing praise and worship songs.
They will learn about communion, the Apostle's Creed, and the Lord's
Prayer. The third year is a 'walk through the
Bible'. The books of the Old and New
Testament will be memorized. Old
Testament stories and where they come from will be taught! Ask one of our older youth where you might
find the story of Samson? If they have
been to our children's church regularly they should know. |
