Missions Update

Cereal Sunday

With the changes that have occurred in the economy, Five loaves, the food pantry that our local missions supports, has informed us that they are seeking increased numbers of people and families asking for food.  When we inquired about their need, we were told one item that was frequently requested, but they did not have the funds to but was dry cereal.

The Missions Ministry, with the support of the Session, has designated the first Sunday of each month as “Cereal Sunday”.  Please bring a box (or boxes) of any type dry cereal and place it in the grocery basket in the Narthex.  We will see that it is transported to the food pantry.

We had the first “Cereal Sunday” in December with only one week’s notice to the congregation, and had a good response.  For the sake of those who need our help, we hope that subsequent first Sundays will see an overflowing grocery basket to be transferred to the food pantry.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." - Matthew 28:18 – 20
